Albert Martz opened his paint and materials shop in Stuttgart.

Martz started manufacturing watercolours. The first geometric instruments formed the foundation for drawing technology.

Martz became Marabu: 50 years after the company was founded, the “Marabu” trademark is registered with the Imperial Patent Office.

Eberhard and Dr. Eduard Martz set up the Marabuwerke GmbH in Tamm on June 10,1920.

The Marabuwerke launched poster distemper paints, the first paints specifically manufactured for designers and practical graphic designers. Poster paints became an important business field.

Marabu produced the first watercolour box. This constitues the start into an educational school product range.

Marabu presented its first screen printing paint, Marapid, which was developed at the in-house screen printing test studio and laboratory.

In Marabu’s 100th year, the company launched the elastic mounting adhesive “Fixogum”, an innovation which developped into a real sales classic.

The Marabu logo was redesigned. The M stands for the brand name, the circle and the square for the drawing tools, and the red dot for the paints.

Marabu stepped into the hobby and leisure sector, which is a long-term significance for the business. One of the first products was the fabric painting and printing colour “Hobbytex”.

Marabu Silk paints are introduced. Silk painting became very popular in the Europe in the 1980s. The quality of Marabu’s Silk Paints continue to prove its worth today!

A boom year for the window colour: Marabu fun & fancy Window Colour was the most successful product in the history of creative colours and dominated the market for many years.

The new creative colours factory was built in Bietigheim-Bissingen following the newest environmental, technical and employee-friendly standards.

Marabu bought the liquid lamination company Clearstar, founded in 1996. In 2011, it was renamed Marabu North America LP which has developed in to a major player in the US printing market.

Marabu celebrated its 150th anniversary.

With the relaunch of the porcelain & glass painting assortment, Marabu presented a global novelty: Marabu Porcelain and Glas are dishwasher-safe without firing.

Marabu Fashion design- fun with colour spray on textiles! Marabu Fashion Spray, Fashion Liner and the silhouette stencils allow everyone to apply their favorite style to t-shirts, bags, cushions and curtains.
