My easy marble just clumps on the stick when I run a stick through it. How can I get it to swirl properly?

I use these all the time on canvases. It’s so much fun. The only issue I have is how quick I have to be in order to make a design I want before it starts clumping up. The largest upside to it is that I don’t need to use carrageanan to make the water thicker.
