Tips:

  • Smudging/blending: apply colours thoroughly next to one another, smoothly smudge together with the finger.
  • Watercolour technique: apply with a wet paintbrush or by spraying with water to dissolve further and paint as water colour with the brush.
  • Wipe-stenciling: apply Art Crayons and smooth flat with a finger, lay down stencil and wipe it over with a baby wipe thereby removing the colour/negative stenciling.
  • Tracing/copying: smoothly cover the reverse of a paper pattern with Art Crayon, lay the pattern with the coloured side down onto the surface and draw lines with a hard tip (eg ballpoint pen). The outlines will be transferred onto the surface. The transferred design can now be reproduced.

Note:

  • Art Crayons dry within approx. 24 hours and are no longer viscous.
  • Fixative can be used.

Tips:

  • Shake Art Spray well before use. The mixing ball should be clearly audible.
  • Test spray Art Spray on a sheet of paper.
  • Experiment with the spraying distance from the surface: the look of the spray will vary.
  • Using toning shades you can create exciting layers of color.
  • As long as the paint is still wet, you can use the decalcomany technique.
  • Whilst the sprayed paint is wet, you can work it with a paintbrush (watercolor technique). The surface can also be sprayed with water.
  • Interesting flowing effects can be achieved by preparing the surface with Gesso first. Completely spray the upper edge of the surface with Art Spray, stand it up and allow the color to run down.
  • Different shapes and patterns can be created by masking. Place the shape or item on the surface and spray over.
  • Art Spray is also suitable for stenciling. Be careful not to spray too much paint, or it can run under the stencil.
  • Before removing stencils, wipe with a cloth to avoid drips on the surface.
  • Alternatively spray color onto the stencil and use it to print a positive/negative image.
  • Drip, paint or write with the tube: carefully open the spray bottle and experiment with the tube.

Note:

  • Dust and grease-free surface.
  • Shake well before use; once you can hear the mixing ball keep shaking for a few more seconds, so that the pigment (which can settle at the bottom) is well mixed.
  • Do not spray before shaking, to ensure that the combined pigments can reach the tube and the fine atomizer.
  • Always spray at the right angle (approx. 45°). If it is too tilted, too much paint will run into the nozzle and it will clog.
  • If an irregular spray pattern develops when spraying, remove the nozzle and check if dried paint is stuck in it. This can be removed with a cotton bud or piece of wire.
  • After use spray warm water through the atomizer until the water becomes clear. Remove the nozzle and wash out so no paint film develops.
  • Replace the lid.
  • If dry paint is pumped into the nozzle, it is very difficult to remove. Place the nozzle in warm water to dissolve the dried paint. If necessary push a stiff piece of wire through the blocked nozzle.

Tips:

  • Cover work area.
  • The coloured outliners, including effect colours, resist very well on light and medium weight silks. On heavy silks we recommend drawing quite wide outlines with the coloured outliners otherwise it may not fully resist.
  •  Colourless water based Marabu Contours & Effects resists very well on light and medium weight silks. On heavier silk like Pongé 14, Crêpe Satin 12,5 Crêpe de Chine 16 it is necessary to apply the outliner more thickly or to apply on both sides, in order to avoid an ‚overflow’ when painting in. After iron fixing, the colour less outliner is easily removed by washing out.

Note:

  • Fabric must be free from finishing and softening agents, wash before painting.
  • Painted silk must be thoroughly fixed after drying, in order to ensure wash resistance.
  • Wash (handwash) and iron inside out.

Important:

  • When marbling dip the object very slowly into the water and remove it quickly · Use room temperature water.
  • Can be wiped off with a damp cloth, but it is not resistant to dish soap.

Important:

  • Fabric must be free from finish and fabric softener, wash before spraying · The sprayed material must be carefully fixed after drying, to ensure wash resistance.
  • Wash (max. 40 °C) and iron fabric inside out.
  • Fashion-Liner should not be applied directly to Fashion-Shimmer application, as adhesion will be reduced.

Tips:

  • Protect work surface and clothing thoroughly.
  • Insert card between layers of fabric.
  • Use rubber gloves.
  • Shake Fashion-Spray before use and spray 2 or 3 times onto a test surface (e.g. paper).
  • Pump warm water through the spray nozzle after use and wash out.

Important:

  • Cutting surfaces and drinking rims should not be painted as abrasion from cutlery can damage the decoration.

Tips:

  • Glas and Glas Painter can be combined: Allow to dry for 4 hours, then bake for 30 min./320 °F in a non-pre-heated oven and cool down in the oven.
  • In order to hang a finished picture which is on acrylic sheet, simply make a hole in the chosen place with a hot nail (heat with a lighter).
  • Corrections or complete removal of the paint are no problem with Marabu Cleaner & Thinner or mineral spirit, as long as the paint has not dried.
  • Pump warm water through the spray nozzle after use and wash out.

Important:

  • Not resistant to dish soap.

Tips:

  • Acrylic sheets can easily be pierced by a hot nail in order to hang up the finished picture.
  • Also suitable for use on wood, allowing the attractive grain to show through the glaze.

Important:

  • Cutting surfaces and drinking rims should not be painted as abrasion from cutlery can damage the decoration.

Tips:

  • Porcelain and Porcelain Painter can be combined: Allow to dry for 4 hours, then bake for 30 min./320°F in a non-pre-heated oven and cool down in the oven.
  • Clean the surface of the porcelain with washing up liquid or Marabu Cleaner so that it is dust and grease free. Rinse off cleaner residues before painting.
  • Corrections or complete removal of the paint are no problem, as long as the paint has not dried. Use a cotton bud with Marabu Cleaner or mineral spirit.

Tips:

  • Clean the surface of the porcelain and glass with washing up liquid or Marabu Cleaner so that it is dust and grease free. Rinse off cleaner residues before painting.
  • Corrections or complete removal of the paint are no problem, as long as the paint has not dried. Use a cotton bud with Marabu Cleaner or mineral spirit.
  • Marabu Relief Paste Crystal Clear can be mixed with Marabu Glas: you can achieve great effects in your favorite color.
  • Cutting surfaces and drinking rims should not be painted as abrasion from cutlery can damage the decoration.

Note:

  • Water based outline and effect paste.
  • Saliva resistant.
  • Low odor.
  • Dishwasher safe without oven fixing (3 days drying time, max. 120 ° F).

Important:

  • Do not iron directly on the paint surface.
  • Not suitable for knitwear, as this cannot be fixed at cotton temperature to be colourfast.
  • Always wash and iron painted items inside out or iron the front through a cloth.
  • The dry paint application is soft, but distinctly thicker than Textil fabric paint and printing colour.

Tips:

  • For opaque coverage, especially on dark fabrics, use Textil plus undiluted, otherwise opacity may be reduced.
  • When painting T-Shirts simply place a piece of card inside so that the paint does not seep through. Spraying the card with spray adhesive will prevent the fabric from slipping without leaving any traces of glue.
